A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Eon Malan holds a Master of Music (cum laude) in Organ from Stellenbosch University, where he studied under professor Mario Nell. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Organ Performance and diplomas in Hymnology and Church Music. His musical career has carried him across the globe, with performances throughout New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, and his native South Africa.

His academic achievements have been recognized with numerous performance and scholastic bursaries from institutions including the Southern African Church and Concert Organists Society (SAKOV), the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, Stellenbosch University, and the South African Academy for Science and Arts.

In 2019, Eon studied with Dr. Jacqueline Yost at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he also served as organ intern at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church. The following year, he moved to New Zealand, establishing himself as both a performer and educator. There he served as Assistant Organist and Director of Communications at St Peter’s Cathedral in Hamilton, while also teaching music at St Peter’s School in Cambridge.

Eon returned to Charlotte, North Carolina, in April 2023 to pursue a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care & Counseling, deepening his lifelong integration of music and faith. In September 2024, he joined Matthews United Methodist Church as Music Ministry Associate and Organist, and in January 2026 he took on the additional role of director of the Joyful Ringers, MUMC’s handbell choir
